Privacy Policy

Verse does not collect your personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking in the iOS or Android app.

What stays on your device

Verse keeps your reading state locally, in the app's own storage on your device. That includes:

• your display and reading settings
• which book and chapter you were last reading, and how far through it you are
• which pages and chapters you have completed, for the reading plan
• which in-app announcements you have already seen

None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to us, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes it.

What the app requests over the network

Verse needs a connection for two things, and makes no other requests:

• Scripture text is fetched a chapter at a time. The English Standard Version is requested from c01-verse.app, which passes it on to Crossway's ESV API on our side — your device never talks to Crossway directly. If that is unavailable, Verse falls back to bible-api.com, which serves the public-domain World English Bible.
• Chapter illustrations are fetched from our image storage on Cloudflare R2.

As with any request over the internet, these services receive the network information required to answer them, including your IP address. We do not send them anything identifying you, and we do not combine or store this information to build a profile of you.

The chapter notes are stored inside the app itself, so they work with no connection at all.

Leaving the app

Where a chapter note refers to a real place, Verse offers to open that location in your device's maps. Choosing that hands the location to Google Maps and leaves Verse. What happens after that is covered by Google's privacy policy, not this one.

Children

Verse is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Since it collects nothing, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request or delete beyond removing the app.

Changes

If Verse ever begins collecting anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
